Wildfire

Message from UC President Drake

Thank you to UC President Dr. Michael V. Drake for sharing his message, Coming together with kindness and compassion, with the UC community and mentioning the work of the Wildfire Science & Technology Commons.

The Wildfire Science & Technology Commons team is saddened by the impact of the Palisades, Hurst, and Eaton fires. Our hearts go out to those directly affected by the fires and smoke, and to those who have loved ones impacted. We understand the economic and emotional toll these fires are taking on our community.

We would like to thank all those helping to manage the fires and provide aid—especially the Local, State, Federal, private, and non-governmental organizations providing support around the clock. We would also like to thank our community of experts who are actively reaching out to support these teams. Your data, models, and work are not just essential, but they are the key to understanding the full impact of these fires and planning for further mitigation.
